Lakeside Public Notice

Due to the ongoing budget issues with the State of Illinois and the departure of the Executive Director in May, Lakeside Community Development Corporation will be scaling back operations, effective immediately.  Lakeside will move from its current location at 6636 North Clark Street and this move is effective June 15, 2016

Lakeside, a 501c3 not-for-profit housing and community development organization, was founded in 2005 with the mission of "preserving and creating affordable housing opportunities through education, advocacy, and real estate development."

Lakeside primarily serves eight neighborhoods in Chicago’s Far North Side including: Rogers Park, Lakeview, Edgewater, Albany Park, Uptown, North Park, West Ridge, and West Rogers Park.  In the past eleven years, Lakeside has provided first-time homebuyers, landlords, renters and condo owners with pre-purchase, rental, foreclosure and other housing counseling services.

Lakeside’s start was motivated by the belief that communities characterized by racial, economic, and cultural diversity are the ideal, but such diversity can be undermined by a lack of quality affordable housing for low- and moderate-income individuals and families. Our work was intended to ensure that all people, and especially economically disadvantaged households, had the ability to enjoy the benefits of living in stable and diverse communities of opportunity.  We are happy to have provided housing counseling to thousands of Chicago area residents over the past eleven years.

During the transition, new foreclosure clients will be referred to other housing agencies in the local area including:  Northside Community Development Corporation, Ravenswood Community Development Corporation, Neighborhood Housing Services, and the North Side Community Federal Credit Union.  Existing clients should contact Lakeside counselors to arrange for appointments and will continue to be served by the agency.
