About Us

Lakeside Community Development Corporation is a 501c3 not-for-profit housing and community development organization founded in 2005 with the mission of "preserving and creating affordable housing opportunities through education, advocacy, and real estate development." We are located in Rogers Park on Chicago's Far North Side and we serve residents of the City of Chicago and surrounding suburbs, with a primary focus on eight Far North Side neighborhoods. Lakeside is motivated by the belief that communities characterized by racial, economic, and cultural diversity are the ideal, but such diversity can be undermined by a lack of safe, decent, and affordable housing for low- and moderate-income individuals and families. Our work is intended to ensure that all people, but especially people of limited incomes, have the ability to enjoy the benefits of living in stable and diverse communities of opportunity.

Lakeside employs a professional staff of bilingual (English/Spanish) housing counselors. Each is highly trained in one or more specializations, ensuring we have the ability to meet the comprehensive housing and financial literacy needs of the people we serve. Our areas of expertise include:

  • Rental education and counseling
  • Landlord tenant rights and responsibilities
  • Credit and budget counseling
  • Pre-purchase education and counseling
  • Mortgage delinquency counseling
  • Post-purchase non-delinquency education and counseling
  • Condominium association management
  • Fair housing

Lakeside's services help our clients make more informed housing decisions and have increased access to housing opportunities and programs. Our staff work one-on-one in a confidential setting to help our clients identify and overcome their housing challenges. Our group workshops are offered throughout the year using high quality educational materials and experienced speakers.

Most housing services are offered at low-cost or no cost, thanks to the generous support of private donors and individuals and from support secured through public grants. Fees are charged, as allowed by HUD guidelines, to cover the cost of services not otherwise covered. No person is ever denied services due to their financial ability to pay.

If you are in need of housing help, please fill out our online service request form. We see clients by appointment only. If you would like to attend a workshop, check our event calendar for to see what is coming up next.
